Burdick Handcuffs
There is a 1903 patent for a chain cuff issued to N.A Burdick. This cuff, marked with Burdick's name, has a different locking mechanism from the one shown in the patent drawing. The locks appear rather fragile, but are reasonably secure. These cuffs are actually adjustable over a range of about 1". However, since they don't double lock, there is nothing to prevent them from over tightening. While VERY light and rather collapsible (i.e. they can fit in a pocker much like a keychain!) they are quite secure. The come along handle is optional - it can be removed while not in use. |
