Hiatt Clasp Hand Shackles
Shown are two clasp hand shackles and an end lock that came with them, as a set. They are likely not meant to be a set, rather one would be applied to each slave, with a "gang chain" passing through the clasp holes, in the process sealing them shut. The ends of that chain would be secured with an end-lock. This specific end-lock is not spring loaded, requiring, rather, the key be turned and the lock bolt be screwed into the end plate through the hole in its bow. The key has a nib in it that hooks into a groove cut along the length of the bolt, allowing it to be turned. |
