This is actually good for 5 or 10 prisoners. The chain has 5 pass-through links spaced equally along its length. Through each of these a pair of handcuffs may be passed which are then locked onto one prisoner or opposite wrists of two prisoners. Once the handcuffs are locked on, they can no longer be removed from the link. This device is typically used by sheriffs and prisons to transport a number of prisoners. The general idea is very similar to the Martin Belly Chain whereby the handcuffs, while open, can be passed through the pass-through link but once locked cannot be removed.
